National Model Sustainable Community Development Code
Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute
Chris Duerksen is the creator and primary author/editor of the groundbreaking model sustainable community development code being developed in cooperation with the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute at the University of Denver Law School. The code addresses a wide range of over 20 sustainability topics including climate change, alternative energy, food security, recycling, and others. The code discusses how local governments can, through their development codes, remove barriers, create incentives, and enact regulations to encourage sustainable developments. Links are provided to key references and relevant local government ordinances. The code is available on line through the Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute’s web site.
